Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Media Relations Manager in the New York office of Spong. The goals of the senior media relations manager are to develop and execute successful media relations strategies that support the overall business goals and priorities of the agency and agency clients. The senior media relations manager works closely with account teams and clients to provide strategic media relations counsel, to develop effective media relations plans, to execute those plans and to evaluate the results of that outreach.

Requirements/Qualifications

Education:

A bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism or a closely-related field.

Skills and Experience:

A minimum of 10 years of public relations or relevant work experience in one of the following areas: prior agency, communications or media.

Supervisory Skills:

• Strong delegation skills (without giving up responsibility, control or authority)
• Can give direction and command the attention of a room
• Ability to manage a team well, strong team building skills
• Strong motivation and coaching skills

Client Relationship Management Skills:

• Develops long-standing relationships with account teams and clients
• Provides counsel with conviction to solve a business challenge
